Who says you have to get the most recent and best smartphones? Not us, for one. Sure, having the latest and greatest gadget is always amazing, but you may save a lot of money by choosing for last year’s devices.

Now that we’ve reached the halfway point of the year, we thought it’d be a good idea to take a look back and select the best 2020 smartphones that are still highly recommended in 2021.

These are the Best 2020 Smartphones in 2021 that are Still Worth Buying

  • Samsung Galaxy S20 FE
  • LG V60
  • Sony Xperia 5 II
  • OnePlus 8 Pro
  • Google Pixel 4a
  • Asus Zenfone 7

1.) Samsung Galaxy S20 FE

Samsung Galaxy S20 FE: Choose The Best 2020 Smartphones Still Worth Buying in 2021

The Galaxy S21 series was released earlier this year, and it appears to be a good improvement over the S20 FE on paper. You get a faster processor, additional RAM, and 8K recording capability for an additional $100. The S20 FE, on the other hand, is really superior in certain aspects, and it’s still one of the best 2020 smartphones available now.

The S20 FE comes with a true telephoto camera, microSD storage (missing on the S21), an in-box charger (absent on the newer phone), and a bigger battery, in addition to being cheaper at $600 right now (or $700 at launch). In the 4G variant, Samsung has also replaced the underperforming Exynos 990 processor with the Snapdragon 865.

This phone will also receive three years of Android updates and four years of security patches, making it a good purchase if you plan to keep it for a long time.

2.) LG V60

[Today Exclusive News] LG V60: Images, HD image, Processor, Display, Camera, Battery

LG is no longer a competitor in the smartphone market, having decided to exit early this year. It’s the end of an era, yet there are still some excellent LG phones available. And the V60 from last year could be the best deal of the bunch.

The Snapdragon 865 Processor, 8GB of RAM, 128GB to 256GB of expandable storage, a 6.8-inch OLED display, and a long-lasting 5,000mAh battery are among the highlights of the 2020 flagship. It also has IP68 water/dust resistance, a 3.5mm headphone jack, wireless charging, and quad DAC audio hardware, which you would not expect.

However, LG’s phone isn’t perfect; it lacks a high-refresh-rate display, charging is slow compared to other smartphones, but it’s too big. Although LG has reduced the gap, camera quality is still a step below leading brands. However, the smartphone is now available for well under $500, making it a deal.

  • Chipset: Snapdragon 865 Processor
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Rear Cameras: 64MP + 13MP
  • Front Camera: 10MP
  • Battery: 5,000 mAh

3.) Sony Xperia 5 II

[Smartphones News] Sony Xperia 5 II: Choose The Best 2020 Smartphones Still Worth Buying in 2021

The Xperia 1 III and 5 III were released a few months ago, and they both appear to be quite capable flagship smartphones from Sony. However, the Xperia 5 II is still a brilliant flagship smartphone, and it’s become even more affordable.

The Snapdragon 865 SoC, a 6.1-inch 120Hz OLED screen, a flexible triple back camera arrangement (three 12MP cameras), and a 4,000mAh battery that actually lasts a long time are all included in Sony’s late 2020 release.

Add in a 3.5mm audio jack, microSD card compatibility, and IP65/68 dust and water protection, and you’ve got a solid product. It lacks a few features, including wireless charging and fast wired charging, but at the current Amazon price of $710, these omissions are easy to ignore.

Best 2020 Smartphones: Sony Xperia 5 II Key Specs (Specifications)

  • Display: 6.1-inch, FHD+
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 865 Processor
  • RAM: 8GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Back Cameras: 12MP + 12MP + 12MP
  • Selfie Camera: 8MP
  • Battery: 4,000 mAh

4.) OnePlus 8 Pro

OnePlus 8 Pro: Best 2020 Budgets smartphone still in 2021 for buying, review | features | specification | price in india

The OnePlus 8 Pro was a turning point for the company since it was the company’s first real premium flagship. It wasn’t cheap at $899 at launch, but it came with a slew of premium extras. 30W wireless charging, an IP68 rating, and a QHD+ 120Hz OLED screen were all included.

A 4,510mAh battery and a well-rounded quad-camera system are among the other outstanding features (including a 48MP IMX689 main sensor and a 48MP IMX586 ultra-wide camera). We were quite pleased with the image quality, and this is possibly the first OnePlus smartphone that truly competed with Samsung, Apple, and Google.

However, the OnePlus 8 Pro isn’t perfect, since the 5MP color filter camera was clearly a joke. However, for $699 for the 12GB/256GB variant, the phone is well worth considering. As a result, it’s cheaper in some areas than the OnePlus 9, losing faster charging and the Snapdragon 888 SoC in exchange for water resistance, a QHD+ screen, and a zoom-focused camera.

OnePlus 8 Pro Key Specs (Specifications): Best 2020 Smartphones

  • Display: 6.78-inch, QHD+
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 865
  • RAM: 8/12GB
  • Storage: 128/256GB
  • Rear Cameras: 48MP + 48MP + 8MP + 5MP
  • Front Camera: 16 Megapixels
  • Battery: 4,510 mAh

5.) Google Pixel 4a

Google Pixel 4a: Choose The Best 2020 Smartphones Still Worth Buying in 2021, specifications, key specs, check buying price

The Pixel 4a has yet to receive a successor, although Google announced a Pixel 5a a few months ago. Unfortunately, the future phone may only be available in Japan and the United States. It’s also worth considering if you just want a cheap Pixel in general, as it’s one of the year’s best deals.

The Snapdragon 730 Processor, 128GB of storage, a 12MP single back camera with excellent image quality, and three years of Android version upgrades are among the features of Google’s mid-ranger. We’re also glad to see a clean Android experience here, as well as Google’s Pixel-specific features (such as the Google Camera app and call screening) and a fingerprint scanner on the back.

However, there are a few drawbacks, like the 3,080mAh battery and the lack of a multi-camera arrangement on the rear. In the case of the former, we believed the endurance was enough, but we are concerned about battery life in the future. Even still, at $349, it’s a really excellent price for most buyers.

Google Pixel 4a Specifications (Key Specs): Best 2020 Smartphones

  • Display: 5.81-inch, FHD+
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 730 Processor
  • RAM: 6GB
  • Storage: 128GB
  • Back Camera: 12MP
  • Front Camera: 8MP
  • Battery: 3,080mAh
  • Operating System (OS): Android 11

6.) Asus Zenfone 7

Asus Zenfone 7: best for buying today in 2021, best value for money smartphone

In 2021, Asus released two quite different Zenfones: the Zenfone 8 and the Zenfone 8 Flip. The former is a standard small flagship, while the latter keeps the flipping camera configuration seen on previous Zenfone models. However, we believe that the Zenfone 7 from last year is a better choice than the Zenfone 8 Flip.

By choosing the old phone over the new phone, you will only be missing out on a new Processor and a somewhat more reliable camera motor. A 5,000mAh battery with 30W charging, a full-display 90Hz OLED screen, and a flipping camera system with the same flexible triple sensor setup is among the features shared by the two devices (64MP primary camera, 12MP ultra-wide, 8MP 3X telephoto).

The best thing is that the Zenfone 7 costs roughly $650 these days, compared to €800 ($973) for the Zenfone 8 Flip. So you’re paying an additional $300 for the chipset.

Asus Zenfone 7 Key Specs (Specifications): Best 2020 Smartphones

  • Display: 6.67-inch, FHD+
  • Chipset: Snapdragon 865 Processor
  • RAM: 6/8GB
  • Storage: 128GB
  • Cameras: 64, 12, and 8MP
  • Front cameras: Same as rear cameras
  • Battery: 5,000mAh
  • Software: Android 11
