Oppo is officially providing the ColorOS 13 update based on Android 13 for much older and less-priced smartphones all across the world. The most recent of these smartphones to have access to the updated software are the Oppo A55 5G and Oppo A55s 5G.
For these smartphones, the update is currently only available in beta form. It is also restricted to China.
Users of the Oppo A55 5G and A55s 5G in China may sign up for the ColorOS 13 beta program by going to Settings. The beta build is going to be delivered to selected candidates through OTA.
Oppo typically takes a month or more to produce a stable build. As a result, the public’s official release should take place sometime in April.
Although the s variant arrived more than a year after the standard model, both of these smartphones were introduced with ColorOS 11, which was based on Android 11. After they received the Android 12-based ColorOS 12 update last year, ColorOS 13 is their second main software update.
The A55 and A55s smartphones won’t get any major software updates because they are affordable devices. Unfortunately, they could still get the critical security updates and bug fixes for some time.
They have a 6.5-inch HD+ display, a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, a 13MP back camera, an 8MP front camera, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, a 5,000mAh battery, and 10W charging support, among many other interesting specifications.
