Last year, LG discontinued the G-series of smartphones in order to launch the LG Velvet range. The phone was well welcomed by consumers and critics alike. The company was working on a successor, however, due to the closure of the mobile phone division, the LG Velvet 2 Pro will not be released.

However, an unboxing video of the LG Velvet 2 Pro or LG Rainbow, which reveals what the smartphone may have become, has been released online (via Tron). The business has sold unreleased smartphones to its employees.

The smartphone has the same design as its predecessor, with a curved display upfront for a greater screen-to-body ratio, as shown in the video. It would have had a 6.8-inch P-OLED display panel with Full HD+ screen resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR compatibility, according to rumors.

With the company’s new raindrop design on the rear, there’s a triple-camera configuration with an OIS-enabled 64-megapixel main camera, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and an 8-megapixel telephoto sensor. A 10-megapixel front-facing camera is available for selfies and video calls.

The smartphone comes pre-installed with the Android operating system and the company’s own custom user interface. It is said to include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. It has a 4,500mAh battery that supports fast charging.

This reveals that LG planned to market this new model as a flagship smartphone, unlike its predecessor. However, as previously stated, due to LG’s decision to discontinue its mobile phone business, this smartphone will not be commercially available.
